The Sattalites were formed in Toronto in 1980 when Jo Jo Bennett and Fergus Hambleton met as a part of Leroy Sibbles tour band. Together they were two thirds of Sibbles »Sattalite Horn« section. They have since released five albums (with eponymous the debut being released in 1985).
They were the first Canadian band to be invited to perform at Jamaica's Sunsplash festival. Playing to over 25,000 people.
During their career they've garnered many industry awards - two Juno awars for Best Reggae Recording ('90 & '95), a Casby for Best R&B/Reggae Recording, a Toronto Music Awars for Best Reggae Group, two Black Music Awars, Best Group and Best Single of the Year. They've also received numerous Canadian Reggae Music Awards including 1992 Group of the Year.
