STEPHEN DAVIS aka. SUPA HYPE
Supa Hype has been behind the mic long enough to earn the “S” on his chest, so it is only natural for this DJ/ Artiste/ Producer/ Songwriter to own his own label and begin to produce the younger talent. ?? Born August 7th, 1979, his multifaceted career began 1994 as a disc jockey for an uptown sound system called PowerPlay Disco. In 1997 he became a member of Essence Disco, developed his talent as a mic man and disc jockey and began to freelance his skill under the name DJ Superman. In late 2000 or early 2001 he became a member of the infamous Code Red Disco and played alongside the likes of DJ Rush and Master Lee whom he states set the platform for his career as ‘Supa Hype’. In 2001, he capitalized on the opportunity to become an RETV VJ and as a result the name Supa Hype catapulted into every household in Jamaica. His career as an artiste began with the notorious tune “Welcome to Norbrook” which hit the charts in late 2005. As a young producer, he began working with artistes such as Busy Signal, Ice Cold, Flava Unit and Colly C. In 2006, Supa Hype produced and released his first riddim titled SMASH, which tore up the charts with hits such as Tony Matterhorn’ s “Dutty Wine”, Busy Signal’s “Lu Lu Lu”, Alaine’s “Baby You” and T.O.K’s “Haters. As Hyperactive Entertainment, Supa Hype continued nurturing young artistes. In the summer of 2008 Supa Hype joined forces with popular uptown sound Bloodline. Supa Hype acknowledges DJ Karim, Jack Neil, ZJ Liquid and many others for continuous support over the years. ? UPT-007 RECORDS is a merger between ‘new-comer’ Bobby Tukaz and ‘veteran’ Supa Hype founded in March 30, 2009. 007 Mobile Sound got it’s ?rst play-out date and continues to play every Sunday at S.S.M.G. car wash at 2 Chilo Close in Kingston. He aspires to push music to higher levels improving its quality hence his involvement in a record label and studio. They joined forces and UPT-007 RECORDS was created and already have produced dancehall rhythms – Javelin and Vacuum; and reggae roots rhythm – Sunshine among others. These rhythms features artistes such as Alaine, Ice Cold, Not Nice & Dr. Bird, Charly Black, TOK, Tina Nunez, Gyptian, To-Isis, Chedda, Ignious and Nashi-Danger.
Ever since 007 RECORDS was established the career of SUPA HYPE took off like a plain.
Numerous Hit Songs, Hit-Song Productions and being present all over jamaican Radio and TV and even setting trends like the infamous “SECURITY”-gimmick make SUPA HYPE one of the most versatile Artistes on the island.
