Lenky Roy (Dennis Narcisse) was born and raised in Greenwich Town, Kingston 13, home of many of Jamaica's reggae legends. After moving to Duhaney Park, Lenky Roy began visiting the Black Arkstudio owned by the legendary Lee 'scratch' Perry and located in the neighbouring community of Washington Gardens. Lenky Roy soon recrded his first single for Lee'scratch'Perry entitled Rastaman Unity. When later Lenky Roy migrated to Boston, USA, he formed his own band 'Lenky Roy and the Eithiopian Roots' and appeared as opening act for such greats as Steel Pulse, Gregory Issacs, John Holt, Dennis Brown, Leroy Smart, Ken Boothe and the Blues Busters. In 1984, while on tour in Boston, Sugar Minott heard Lenky Roy's Music and encouraged him to return to Jamaica to join the Youthman promotion team. Lenky Roy accepted the offer and there began a long collaboration with Minott's sound system 'Youth Promotion' which included tours to Europe and the USA. Lenky Roy released his first album Rastaman Unity in 1985. His singles 'set me free' (a remake of Bob Andy's 'Unchained') and 'is she for real' received critical acclaim in Jamaica and overseas. His music has taken him around the world with performances in such countries as Brazil, Germany, Moscow and Siberia; before audiences of over 20,000 reggae lovers. In 2004, Lenky Roy established his own label Straight Up Entertainment Inc. on which he has released four singles to date - Let Rasta, Oh Yes I Pray, Rastaman and Jah Mek Ya which has had heavy rotation on such radio stations as Irie Fm in Jamaica and WRFG in Atalanta Georgia.His music videos can be seen on Juice Tv,TV 14, Hype TV, RE TV, TVJ and CVM television. His most recently released single 'Babylon dont like' with accompanying video, has been Lenky Roy's most well received song to date, on both the local and international music scenes. Fresh from his outstanding performance at Rebel Salute 2007(Lenky was among the artistes who received positive reviews in the Daily Gleaner's write up of the show. This successful start to 2007 follows on Lenky Roy's Album launch in December 2006. The album entitled On the Journey, received a special feature in the Star newspaper in December. An artiste on the rise, Lenky Roy is totally committed to his career, puts God first in everything and believes that perseverance is the key to success!.
